PK Mode Guide Empty
PostSubject: PK Mode Guide   PK Mode Guide Icon_minitimeThu Mar 04, 2010 8:38 am

I have noticed a lot of my fellow kinetic faction members starting to learn about PK mode and wanting to PK a little more than normal, So i decided to to a little research and make a guide for you all. content

First of all the Basics -
To enter PK mode you must click on the little star inside the circle on the top left of your mini map. Then if you want to kill anyone you have to turn off your protections which is the blue shield on the bottom right of your mini map - click it and a menu will pop up make sure all boxes are unchecked then click confirm - once turned off the blue shield should turn into a red crossed swords image, This means you are free to kill whoever you want as long as they are not in your squad.

Safety Lock - While most people hate this, it does come in handy if used properly. The safety lock is the little lock looking button on the bottom left of your user image (where your HP and MP are shown) click this button and change the set time limit to 30 minuets ONLY then re log-in (completely close PWI and return) and your safety lock will be on for 30 min once expired re log-in again to reset it. LET IT BE KNOWN that once you set the time limit it takes 3 days to reset the time limit so don't pull a James (aka HealHer/SoulSuckHer) and set your safety lock to 10 hours beat down
The Safety lock PREVENTS you from dropping any items or loosing exp upon death, but it also stops you from trading with other players and NPCs.

Here is some useful info on pk mode -
Within the game several modes of battle exist. They range from Player vs. Environment (PVE) which includes monsters, bosses, and raids to Player vs. Player (PVP). In PVP players actively engage each other in combat in order to test skills and kill one another. When you kill another player this is known as player killing or PKing. Below are the different visual character statuses a player can be in:

Blue Names: Player is in shield mode; they cannot attack or be attacked by any players.

White Names: Player is currently neutral. They may have activated PK mode but has yet to attack anyone.

Pink Names: Player has definitely killed other players. In this mode you can lose items from your inventory and your equipment slots if you are killed while infamous, so be careful!

Red name: Player has killed many other players. Be careful of red names because you can be next. The more kills you rack up the longer you will stay in this mode. The punishment for death while you have a red name is far more severe than usual. Killing monsters at or above your level will reduce the duration of being infamous.

Note: There are lots of safe zones in Perfect World. You can't PK in these areas.

Note: Players are forced into PK status during Territory Wars and some special activities. There is no death penalty during these times.
Death Penalty

When dying in the game there is always a penalty. Whether it be just exp lost or something more severe. Below is what you can possibly lose while in the different character states.

Blue
100% chance to drop nothing

White
Equiped -
100% chance to drop nothing
Inventory -
99% chance to drop nothing
1% one item

Pink

20% to drop one item

20% to drop three items
10% to drop four items

20% to drop two items

30% to drop four items
10% to drop six items

Dark Red
Equipped -
60% to drop one item
30% to drop two items
10% to drop three items
Inventory -
60% to drop two items
30% to drop six items
10% to drop nine items

Note: Items Currently Equipped Include: Weapons, Armor, Accessories, Flying Mounts, Mystical Tomes, and Chat items. All items within your inventory may be dropped, with the exception of items that are bound.

Players of different levels and server types will have different PK restrictions. They are as follows:
PvP Server

* Level 1-29: Between these levels the users are not permitted to enter PK mode. They cannot attack or be attacked by other players.
* Level 30 and higher: These levels are free to PK. Once users become this level they are flagged for PVP. There is no way to turn it off but areas like cities will still be considered safe zones and will be PK off.

PvE Server

* Level 1-29: Between these levels the users are not permitted to enter PK mode. They cannot attack or be attacked by other players.
* Level 30 and higher: These levels are free to PK but in order to do so the player must activate it themselves. In this way a user will not have to PK if they do not want to unless they enter areas that require PK like territory wars.

Check out the link: http://pwi-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=368092

Safety lock actually makes it more likely that you shatter equipment.

One of the reasons I'm not in pk mode that often. I'd hate to see how many celes it would take to repair my warsoul helm. surrendering

Best way not to lose anything is using guardian scrolls. Costly choice but most effective.

Great guide Very Happy
